About Us: Emma & Colleen

High school acquaintances turned best friends. We met on a school organized trip to China - and Beijing pre-Olympics was a serious bonding experience.  Ten years ago, Emma and her husband (then boyfriend) moved to Sweden for an international experience and have yet to return. We’ve been maintaining an international friendship ever since through many flights and trips together.

In the last few years we’ve both become parents.  Emma has a three year old girl and twin two year old boys and Colleen has a two year old daughter.  Gone are the days of packing a carry on and hopping on a flight. Traveling with kids means more prep, more stuff, and traveling a bit differently.  We want to pass along our wins and woes to smooth the way for other parents.

What you need to know:

We don’t travel for a living. We travel and plan around our full time jobs and we hope to share content that is relatable and helpful for the average parent who still breaks a sweat at the thought of navigating the airport with a toddler.

We have different travel priorities. And we want to share different options and suggestions for the kind of traveling YOU want to do.

Prior to having kids we had extremely similar travel vibes - post-children we’ve noticed some slight shifts.  Emma is game to wring every ounce of experience out of each trip, doing it with children in tow is just part of the adventure. Colleen is willing to skip things for a smoother experience.  When we travel together we find the happy medium.

We also have different travel patterns. Colleen, living in Toronto, tends to do one or two big trips a year with more local weekend adventures.  Emma, living in Stockholm with the whole of Europe just a cheap and relatively short flight away, travels frequently and really makes the most of the amazing amount of European holidays.

But, we both have toddlers.  They have meltdowns, particularities, irrational opinions and food aversions.  We are out here trying to survive, and occasionally thrive, on these trips, just like at home.  Hoping some of our wins can be yours too, or at the very least, that you can laugh at some of our woes of traveling with toddlers.
